New Zealand’s off-peak seasons appeal to visitors from India.

  • Between April 2023 – April 2024, 87,000 Indian travellers visited New Zealand, with 23,000 of them being holiday visitors
  • The average length of stay for holiday visitors is 10 days
  • 77% of visitors from India arrive during New Zealand’s off-peak seasons (March – November)
  • Indian visitors spent $402 million in New Zealand, with $106 million by holidaymakers. The average spend per trip was $4,621, rising to $4,031 for holiday visitors.
  • There are 18 million people across three cities in India (New Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai) that are seriously considering visiting New Zealand
  • Most visitors from India favoured natural attractions like walks and hikes, mountains and lakes, and geothermal attractions. Over two thirds of Indian holiday visitors visited a place of Māori significance across the seasons.
