Awards & Star ratings

Following an evaluation, Qualmark looks to recognise businesses that are delivering a holistically sustainable experience.  A Qualmark business will receive a Bronze, Silver or Gold award based on their performance under the Sustainable Tourism Business Criteria.

 

Accommodation businesses will also receive an official star rating that denotes the quality of the facilities on offer.

Upcoming Changes

Based on direct feedback from operators, Qualmark recently conducted an Evaluation Frequency Survey to explore the best way to support members with their evaluations. The results from this survey showed an overwhelming support for a move to in-person evaluations every other year, with an online check-in during the year between. Qualmark will begin phasing towards a biennial evaluation model over the coming weeks, with further information on the processes and expectations to come. What does this mean for members?

  1. Tourism businesses are still encouraged to progress on their sustainability journey and are eligible to continue advancing through the Sustainable Tourism Business (STB) Accreditation levels.
  2. During the online year, members will continue to receive support through an online check-in process with a Qualmark Specialist, where any changes in the previous year will be identified to determine the appropriate accreditation level.
  3. All other T&C’s, including the current cost structure, will remain unchanged.

 

Who does this apply to?

  1. All first evaluations including isites & TECNZ members will remain an on-site, in-person evaluation.
  2. For all other members, their Qualmark Specialist will be in touch regarding the next applicable format when it is time for their next evaluation.

Members will continue to be supported through the evaluation reports, resources (available on the member portal) and opportunities with key industry organisations.
